According to Carolina Avendano of The Epoch Times, a timely pandemic thriller inspired by true events is set to debut in Canadian theatres next month. "The Unrestricted War," directed by Toronto-based filmmaker Yan Ma, follows the story of a Canadian virologist forced to steal classified research from Winnipeg's P4 laboratory as a mysterious virus begins spreading in Wuhan, China.

The film stars Vancouver-born Dylan Bruce as Jim, alongside Nadia Hatta and Terry Chen. As Jim faces mounting danger, he must navigate escaping China, protecting his family, and exposing the truth behind the outbreak.

According to Jim Sherry, CEO of distributor Sherry Media Group, the film is "an unrelenting thriller that not only entertains but also provokes thoughtful discussion." Sherry added, "We are thrilled to bring Yan Ma's visionary storytelling to audiences across Canada. I believe it will resonate deeply with audiences and spark important conversations."

Director Yan Ma, known for his documentary "Up We Soar," noted the courage required to bring this story to screen: "Making this film took not just talent and hard work, but courage. As a Chinese Canadian filmmaker, I've seen firsthand the risks involved in telling stories like this."

"The Unrestricted War" opens in Canadian theatres on May 16, distributed by Toronto-based Sherry Media Group.
